We’ve been fixing and installing garage doors in Lakeway since 1984. The crew here isn’t large, but every person on it was hired for the same reason: they do the work right the first time, and they treat your home like it’s theirs. Carl Dutton, Owner
I started Mainspring Garage Door Co. in 1984, back when Lakeway was a lot of limestone hills and not much else. Named the company for the mainspring, the coil that carries a door’s full weight, because that’s the part nobody thinks about until it fails on a Monday morning. I’ve personally trained every senior technician on this crew, and I still answer calls when the line backs up. My rule is simple: if we put our name on it, we stand behind it. The 90-Day Done Right Promise isn’t marketing. It’s written on every invoice because I got tired of hearing other companies argue with customers.
Mike R., Lead Technician
Mike has been with us fourteen years, and he’s the person we send when a spring has failed on a double-wide carriage door in The Hills or a torsion system is wound wrong in Rough Hollow. He’s certified on every major opener system we carry, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, and the older Craftsman units that are still hanging on in half the lake-area homes built in the nineties. Mike keeps a running tally of how many Monday morning spring failures he’s seen in April, when the temperature swings in the Hill Country stress metal more than people realize. Dana runs our new-door and replacement jobs across Lakeway, Bee Cave, and the west Austin corridor. She’s particularly good with the insulated steel Clopay and Amarr doors that handle our summer heat without warping, and she’s installed more Wayne Dalton aluminum full-view doors on modern lake houses than she can count. Dana came to us from commercial construction, so she reads structural loads and header requirements faster than most people read a tape measure. Her personal truck still has a dent in the tailgate from a runaway door panel her second week, 2011. She keeps it as a reminder to always check the temporary supports.

Terrence is the live voice that answers when you call (737) 325-0906 at ten on a Saturday night or seven on a holiday morning. He’s been with Mainspring eight years, and he knows which technician is closest to your neighborhood, which trucks carry the right spring stock for your door weight, and whether your issue sounds like an opener logic board or a safety sensor alignment. Terrence grew up in Houston, moved to Lakeway for the schools, and still can’t get used to how many garage doors out here have direct lake exposure and salt-air corrosion on the bottom brackets. He’ll ask about that when you call, because it changes what parts we bring.
Jesse V., Apprentice Technician
Jesse joined us in 2023 after four years in HVAC and a brief, self-described “disastrous” attempt at residential electrical. He’s under Mike’s direct training, working through our journeyman program built on the K.E.Y.S. code: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. Jesse’s specialty so far is opener diagnostics, the kind of electrical troubleshooting that makes older technicians want to hand the job to someone else. He doesn’t. Last month he traced a phantom voltage drop to a corroded wire nut in a ceiling junction box in a Spicewood home, a three-hour hunt that saved the customer a full opener replacement. He texted Mike a photo of the melted nut. Mike framed it.
