Raynor Opener Logic Board Repair: The Lakeway Owner’s Guide

Raynor opener logic board repair in Lakeway typically runs $120-$320 installed, and we stock the most common Raynor boards on our trucks for same-day replacement. Most jobs finish in under an hour once we’re on site. The first sign owners notice is usually the door that worked fine yesterday now blinks its light twice and refuses to close, or the wall button works but the remote does nothing at all.

Which Raynor Models This Applies To

Raynor has used several control board platforms over the years, and matching the right one matters. The Pilot series, Admiral II, and Commander II openers from roughly 2002 through 2018 most commonly need board replacement now. Newer Aviator and Prodigy II units use updated boards with different mounting patterns and connector layouts.

We check three things before ordering or pulling a board from the truck: the model sticker on the motor head (usually a white label near the light lens), the part number stamped on the existing board itself (visible once you remove the light cover), and whether the opener uses a standard rail or the older chain-drive T-rail assembly. The T-rail units often carried boards with heavier relay ratings for the extra load.

Raynor boards are manufactured by Chamberlain for many models, so quality aftermarket equivalents exist with identical specifications. We source OEM-equivalent boards with the same relay ratings and surge protection specs, not generic universal boards that force you to rewire the entire opener head. In Lakeway’s hill country, where power flickers during spring storms, we see more surge-damaged boards than in other markets. A board with proper MOV surge protection lasts longer here.

Signs Your Raynor Opener Logic Board Is Failing

  • Remote works intermittently, wall button works fine. This usually means the radio receiver portion of the logic board is degrading. The hardwired wall button bypasses the RF circuitry entirely, so it keeps working while remotes become unreliable.
  • Opener light blinks twice or five times, door won’t close. The safety sensor circuit runs through the logic board. A failing board misreads the sensor signal even when sensors are aligned and clean. We see this often in Lakeway’s Rough Hollow area on builder-installed units from the mid-2000s.
  • Motor runs but door doesn’t move, or moves a few inches and stops. The relay that switches power to the drive motor can develop burned contacts. The motor gets partial voltage or none at all, even though the board “thinks” it’s sending the command.
  • Opener activates on its own or at odd hours. A logic board with damaged traces from power surges can send false start signals. This is more than annoying; it’s a security concern for attached garages.
  • Complete deadness: no light, no response to any button. The transformer or primary power regulation on the board has failed. Sometimes it’s the board, sometimes it’s the capacitor that feeds it. We test both before replacing anything.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range in Lakeway
Raynor opener logic board replacement (parts + labor) $120-$320
Additional surge protector installation $25-$45
Full opener diagnostic if issue is unclear Included in repair price

Where you land in that range depends on the board itself. Older Raynor models with discontinued OEM boards require more sourcing time, though we maintain relationships with regional suppliers for exactly this. Newer units with readily available boards sit at the lower end.

We quote the flat price before touching a screw. That price covers removal of the old board, installation and programming of the new one, testing of all safety systems, and syncing your remotes and keypad. Every logic board replacement carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the door doesn’t cycle quiet and right, we come back at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s no high-tension spring danger in a logic board swap, but there is live 120V inside that opener head even when unplugged. The capacitor holds a charge that can deliver a serious jolt. We don’t recommend homeowners open the control housing.

What you can safely check: whether the opener is actually receiving power at the outlet, whether the GFCI has tripped, and whether your remotes need fresh batteries. If those three are good and the opener still misbehaves, the problem is almost certainly internal.

Board replacement requires matching the part precisely, then programming travel limits and force settings afterward. Get those wrong and the door can close too hard or reverse unexpectedly. Tell me what it’s doing. I’ll tell you what it costs. Then we fix it. Call (737) 325-0906.
